Sock Monkeys & Toys

A very good friend taught me how to make sock monkeys at a craft session in a pub. That was quite a few years ago now and I can’t stop making them! The very early monkeys now look a bit odd to me, as I’ve perfected the proportions of their little monkey faces over time!

The photo of many tiny vicars was one of my favourite commissions. I was given a vague description of the man in question by his wife, did a few sketches and then created him in felt. It helped that he had a few distinguishing features and I was very pleased when another friend recognised the vicar from my tiny felt representation! I’ve since met the vicar and found out that although the tiny vicars were supposed to be gifts for friends following a religious celebration, they couldn’t bear to give them all away and kept quite a few of them for themselves!
